Have you ever walked into an untouched house where everything remained as it was years ago? There would have been plenty of objects to point at, you would identify some of them, and others would be new. If you don't want to repeat them over and over again or you don't know what you can expect to find, you can refer to things with a direct object pronoun. In this lesson, a guy is showing his girlfriend all the things his grandfather owned, so there are plenty of objects to reference.
